A perfect Sunday

Last Sunday was just the perfect day for staying at home. And what a perfect way to start the day, after a 30 min Yoga practice, with some painting and a fairy tale. There's a whole series of Grimm's fairy tales made by German television in the past few years, and I recently discovered that you can watch most of them online on their website.

My pile of 25x25 squares is slowly growing. I've already finished six of them, which is twice as much as the one-a-week I had planned to do. But then I'm sure there'll be weeks when I won't be able to paint one at all. And in the end, it doesn't really matter how many I do anyway. The point is to practice. They're like sketchbook pages. Not really finished pieces, although, of course, they can be that too. More or less finished, with sometimes just a a few charcoal sketches and nothing else.

And while I was adding some snowflakes to my paiting, outside, it was snowing too.

Unfortunately, it is already getting warmer again, and the snow is quickly melting away. And next week, the temperatures are going up even more again, well over 0 degrees. What a mad winter.

  2. I really like these lovely little paintings you're doing. I'm not sure I could paint and watch TV at the same time so much kudos to you that you can! We still haven't had snow up here although we did have a wonderful week of very heavy frost and it was so cold and crisp and just lovely. It changed yesterday though with milder weather and rain and the temperature is back up to double figures - pretty much how our whole summer was last year! I miss seasons!

  3. Gorgeous paintings you are creating... love them all!It will be a gorgeous series in completion! I love watching tv and creating. It's probably more like old school listening to the radio...but I still enjoy it! I miss snow this year...but it is only 35 minutes away on the mountain should one need their fix! Love your snow photo!

  6. The paintings are going so well. I have never done a "real" painting on canvas in my life. I can only imagine the number of layers you put on there. But these so called sketches look pretty "finished" to me.Why do you call them unfinished? What would you like to change if you could go on and on? I guess the point to stop changes for everyone. Happy PPF :)

  7. Great to see your artwork. We have had only one light layer of snow were I live in the UK so far this winter.
I have been reading up on your experience with the polaroid camera. You have sparked my interest in them. I remember my Dad having one that you pulled the photo out from the side of the camera and peeled off the top layer to reveal the photo. I remember the feeling of anticipation while you wait to see the results.
